Mars Video Vignette: A Day on the Farm in Soubré, Côte d’Ivoire

What does a day on the farm look like for Mars cocoa workers in Soubré, Côte d’Ivoire? In this video vignette, M. Diomandé Yacouba directly shares his experiences as a farmer in the Koda Village, giving us an inside look at his daily life after working on the plantation for 15 years. You will hear him describe his daily routine on the farm and how he actively seeks to learn and understand how the plantation runs successfully. Then, he tells us about holidays with his family and how he spends his time away from the farm.

It is illuminating to hear Diomandé’s personal testimony about his days on the plantation and to hear how he actively learns how to successfully manage a farm so that it produces sustainable cocoa. We are encouraged by the positive description of his work day and his desire to learn farming techniques so that he, like so many other farmers in Soubré, may be able to one day manage his own farm, which are reflected in this video. You can also watch it on the blog’s video page or at our YouTube channel.
